In June, I convinced my mom to come join me for a hand tool wood working class at the Port Townsend School of Woodworking.

We stayed in this absolutely beautiful cabin on the water, with so much character and a mildly nightmarish hill for the van.

My primary takeaway was that handtool woodworking is incredibly challenging. It’s really easy to create an off-square surface with a handplane, or take too much wood off with a chisel. Still, had a ton of fun in the class and with the people there.
