tableware for the wedding
as we were planning the wedding, i really wanted something on the table to be handmade. i fell in love with a bunch of gorgeous ikebana arrangements, and loved the idea of throwing small bowls to hold little ikebana arrangements.
we also really loved the candlelight at our favorite cozy neighborhood restaurant across the street from our apartment. the taper candles they burn create so much magic, a physical representation of time as they burn down, with a warm ambient light.

i threw the bowls and candle holders at the studio i apprentice at, and glazed them in a beautiful light blue wood ash glaze, developed by Hadar, the artist i apprentice for.
for the florals, we found an excellent wholesale market in Seattle and arranged them with our sisters, my mom, and a dear family friend. we ended up filling all the bowls, plus every vase and a bunch of extra jars with bonus arrangements because everyone was having so much fun. we added rocks from our favorite street end beach.
i’m so ecstatic about how this all came together. the vibe on the day was so communal and so intentional, and i couldn’t have asked for anything more.
